A note sweet and pungent leaves a pleasant and intense scent of anise.
The original recipe for the liqueur Sambuca provides for the use of alcohol, spring water, sugar high solubility, different combinations of star anise and distilled flower Elderberry (Sambucus nigra). The original recipe of Sambuca probably originated from the herbal tradition Certosina once known for alcoholic beverages and for preparations, medicated. As mentioned above, the extract of elder flower white is one of the ingredients, but not the main. Someone has also suggested that the name probably derives sambuca from an Arabic term, Zammut. So it was called a drink made from aniseed "landed" in the port of Civitavecchia on ships coming from the East.
The sambuca was sold in the late nineteenth century to Civitavecchia by Luigi Manzi with the name of Sambuca Manzi fact, still produced today. It was then launched internationally by Angelo Molinari since 1945, a war just ended, as "Sambuca Extra Molinari".
